OFDM System under the Combined Effect Analysis of the Phase Noise, Carrier Frequency Offset, Doppler Spread, and Amplifier Nonlinearity of the SEL

چکیده
In this paper, we provide an exact closed-form expression of the effective signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) performance under the combined effect of the phase noise, frequency offset, and amplifier nonlinearities of the soft envelope limiter (SEL). A simplified approximate expression is also obtained for the effective SNR under certain conditions. This formula describes explicitly the various parameters with the system performance. After deriving the effective SNR, we evaluate the bit-error-rate (BER) for slowly fading Rayleigh channel for QPSK and 16-QAM modulation formats. We also obtain the minimum total degradation (TD) versus phase noise rate for different values of frequency offset rate as a criterion of performance evaluation. We show that the degradation is increased as the phase noise levels and frequency offset levels are increased. For 16-QAM modulation format, we have obtained even worse results compared with QPSK modulation format. Key-Words: OFDM, Phase Noise, CFO, Doppler Spread, and Nonlinear Amplifier.

متن کاملICI Performance Analysis for All Phase OFDM Systems
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a strong candidate for the next generation wireless communication. But the frequency offset between the local oscillators at the transmitter and receiver causes a single frequency offset in the signal, while a time-varying channel can cause a spread of frequency offsets known as the Doppler spread. Frequency offsets ruin the orthogonal of OFD...
متن کاملCarrier Frequency Offset Estimation in Ofdm Systems
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is multicarrier modulation scheme for combating channel impairments such as severe multipath fading and impulsive noise. However, the principal disadvantage of OFDM is that it is highly susceptible to carrier frequency offset (CFO). Carrier frequency offset occurs due to frequency discrepancies between transmitter and receiver and Doppler shift ...
متن کاملThe Combined Effect of Modulator Imbalances and Amplifier Nonlinearity on the Performance of Offset Quadrature-Phase-Shift-Keyed (OQPSK) Systems
Imbalances from imperfect phase modulators can cause distorted signal constellations and interfering tone signals at the carrier frequency in phase-modulated communication systems. The rendered imperfection in the modulated signal inevitably degrades the receiver’s carrier-tracking performance and, for quadraturephase-shift-keyed (QPSK) systems in particular, causes cross-talk between the inpha...
